About Ilona Burghardt
I live in London Ontario, and have been painting and drawing all my life. I took some extended breaks from creating art to focus on family and work obligations, but always returned to it, like to an old friend. I studied at the University of Western Ontario and at the Ontario College of Art. My work is displayed at the Art Bank in London. I belong to the Gallery Painting Group that focusses on plein aire painting, and also to the Lambeth Art Association.
I have returned to my art with a great deal of dedication and passion and have vowed to myself to paint, at least a little bit, every day. At this stage in my life I feel that my creative energy level is at its peak. The real beauty of a piece of art is not necessarily the end product, but the magic of the process of creation.
I work in different media, including oil, pastel, and charcoal. I paint predominantly landscapes and also some cityscapes and still lifes. I paint portraits of people and pets as well, and will do any kind of commissioned work. Portraits start from $200.00 for an 11x14" unframed painting and increase according to size.
